Recipe - Garlic Ginger Wings

These were yummy in my tummy!!! INGREDIENTS: 10 whole wings - My chicken is hormone free and free range. Bought it from my favorite lil farmers market. . $2.50 Sea Salt - I dunno. Maybe 5 pinches. Enough to lightly season. black Pepper - Same as salt. Pepper flakes - Same as above. You could substitute with hot sauce. 1 tbsp Oil - Use any type you like. I used coconut oil. It is really good for. 1/2 cup of wheat flour - I used organic whole wheat flour. You can use white flour. $.10 For the sauce: 3 garlic cloves - pressed 1.5 inches of ginger - pressed 1 tbsp of organic molasses - I chose to use molasses because it has less calories and sugar. Honey is another great substitute. You could also use brown sugar. My daughter and I opted to stay home rather than go out. This being our first weekend together (by ourselves) since I left her with grandma after Xmas, we decided to have some quality time. We just made this awesome drink and I wanted to share it with you guys, especially my fellow mommies. Wondering what to do with the 30 plus candy canes left over from your Christmas tree? Well I was. I definitely wasn't about to have Sweet Pea munch on them for the next couple of weeks. So my mommy brain got to working and I browsed my fridge and pantry for some recipe ideas. Bingo! Ingredients: - 3 regular candy canes (I am sure you can do this with any of the other funky flavors) - 4 cups of Almond Milk (We don't do milk but you can use it if ya want) - About 3 tbsp of Sugar-Free Chocolate Syrup (you can use whatever type of chocolate you want) - Ice Instructions: Add all the candy canes and 1 cup of milk to your food processor. I made some really cool goodies this past Sunday and I wanted to share the recipes with you guys. These are very healthy and inexpensive options. Granola Ingredients: 9 oz rolled oats (old fashioned, half of small canister) = $.62 ($1.24 for an 18 oz container) 3 oz raisins (2 snack boxes) = $.27 ($1.08 a pack/8 in a pack) 4 oz banana chips = $1.10 4 oz dried fruit = $1.64 4 tsp brown sugar 3 sprinkles of cinnamon honey Total = $3.63 (approximate) Directions: Mix all ingredients, minus the honey, in a bowl. Spread mixture on flat baking pan so that it is evenly spread out. Drizzle about 2 tbsp of honey on top of mix. Place pan in 300 degree oven for 30 minutes. Halfway through the bake time mix the granola up so that all of it gets toasted. Final product: Omg, this stuff is addictive. The batch I made should last me 1 to 2 weeks. BBQ RIBLETS (whole) Ingredients: 1 package of pork riblets = $1.96 Dimples' Special marinade = $1.00 - 2 tsp of red pepper flakes (adjustable to the level of heat you want in the dish) - 2 tsp of garlic powder - 2 tsp of onion powder - 2 tsp of salt free seasoning - 1 tsp of black pepper -2 tsp of chopped parsley -1/2 cup of italian dressing Dimples' Special Low Sodium BBQ Sauce = $1.00 (or just use your own fav BBQ sauce) - 2 cups of low sodium ketchup - 2 capfuls of white vinegar - 1 tsp of chili powder - 2 tsp of garlic powder - 2 tsp of onion powder - 1/3 cup of brown sugar TOTAL COST = $3.96 (approximate) Prep Time = 5 minutes (marinading riblets overnight is optional) Cook Time = 4 hours on high or 7 hours on low Directions: Make marinade. It should turn into a nice paste. Clean riblets and then put them into a gallon size ziplock bag. Pour in marinade. Crockpot Recipe of the Week: Caribbean Chicken

CARIBBEAN CHICKEN (whole) Ingredients: 1 whole hen = $2.89 Dimples' Special Caribbean marinade = $1.00 -1 cup of Mojo Criollo marinade ($1.89 a bottle) -2 tbsp of curry powder -1/2 cup of balsamic vinaigrette -2 tbsp of italian seasoning -1 tbsp of chili powder TOTAL COST = $3.89 (approximate) Prep Time = 10 min Cook Time = 4 hours on high or 6 on low Directions: Make marinade. Chicken should be thawed over night. You can either marinate your hen over night or for 5 minutes. What ever fits your schedule. Pour half of the marinade over the hen and some inside it's cavity. Place hen in crockpot. Pour remaining marinade into crockpot and evenly over the hen. Turn on crockpot on at the high or low setting. Cover and let it cook. Results : The chicken is actually for this upcoming week's dinners. I have a busy week ahead and will not have time to cook. So I am making some dishes ahead of time. chicken, Chicken, CHICKEN everywhere!!!! tee hee. I know I haven't posted one of these in a while. I took the pics when I made these dishes but I just have been too tired and too busy to do a post. Well here is 3 for you guys. Enjoy!!!! GARLIC CHICKEN (whole) Ingredients: 1 whole hen = $2.21 2 garlic cloves, sliced = $.10 salt and pepper to taste TOTAL COST = $2.31 (approximate) Prep Time = 5 min Cook Time = 7 hours on low Directions: Turn on crockpot on at the low setting. Add chicken to crockpot. (Remember that I clean and season my chicken the day I buy it so my chicken was already prepared. I just needed to defrost it and I did that by moving it from the freezer to the fridge the night before.) Cover and let it cook. Results: I winded up making some smaller meals from this larger one. I cut out the breast meat and cut them into slices for sandwiches for lunch this week. I then took the wings and drumsticks off and had those that night with some sweet potato I baked. I took ...

Crockpot Recipe of the Weekend - Seafood Chowder (Dimples' Style)

Ingredients: 2 tilapia fillets = $.83 1 cup of shrimp = $.50 2 cups homemade chicken broth (or one can of store bought broth) = $0 1 cup of chopped carrots = $.25 1 cup of chopped snow peas = $.82 1 can of cream of mushroom soup = $1 1 medium size onion, chopped = $.15 1 box of sweet corn = $.75 1 cup of water = $0 TOTAL COST = $4.30 (approximate) Prep Time = 15 min Cook Time = 4 hours on high Directions: Turn on crockpot on at the high setting. Add homemade chicken broth to crockpot. Chop up carrots, snow peas, and onions, if you haven't done so. Cube fish. It can be thawed or still frozen. Add everything to crockpot. Distribute cream of mushroom evenly in pot. Cover and let it cook. Notice that I didn't use any seasonings. The homemade chicken broth and cream of mushroom added enough flavor for me. Ingredients: 1 whole hen (make sure it fits in your crockpot) = $3.02 1/2 cup of organic dried fruit or you can use fresh fruit (dates, cranberries, apricots, raisins, apples) = $.50 1 apple, peeled and chopped = $.25 1 cup of chopped carrots = $.25 1 sweet potato, peeled and chopped = $.35 3 tablespoon of honey (optional) = $.10 Spices = pepper, salt, 2 cloves, parsley, 1 chicken bullion (all to taste...not too much) TOTAL COST = $4.47 (approximate) Prep Time = 15 min Cook Time = 6-8 hours on low (all depends on if you want the chicken to remain whole or want it to fall off the bone) I cooked mine for 6 hours. Directions: Turn on crockpot on desired setting. Rub seasoning on chicken. Put to side. Add dried fruit, apple, carrots, and sweet potato to bowl. Add honey and seasoning and distribute evenly. Ingredients: 2 cups of chopped organic baby carrots (organic is optional) = $.75 2 cups of chopped celery = $.50 2 cups of chopped sausage (whateva kind you feel like) = $.90 2 cup chopped okra = $.98 1 cups of shrimp = $1.64 1 chopped vine ripe tomato = $.33 1 cup chopped onion = $.10 2 cans of chicken broth = $1 ($.50 a piece) 4 tbsp flour mixed with 1/2 of water Spices = pepper, salt, red pepper, chicken bouillon TOTAL COST = $5.20 (approximate) Prep Time = 15 min Cook Time = 8 - 10 hours on low or 4 - 5 hours on high (all depends on you) Directions: Turn on crockpot on desired setting. Add everything to the crockpot. Season. Cover and let it cook. Recipe online The online recipe calls for a roux to add to the gumbo. I decided to not make that because I didn't want my gumbo too thick. I just added the flour mix. You do whatever fits your fancy. You can also serve this with rice. It was good and hearty.
